Scammell Super Constructor, NSW
Following the introduction of the Junior Constructor in 1957, the Constructor range was widened again in 1958 by the Super Constructor, a powerful 6x6 tractor powered by either a Leyland 0.900 or supercharged Rolls-Royce C6S, and with eight-speed semi-automatic transmission. Although a handful appeared in Pickfords' and Sunters' liveries with impresive crew cabs, the Super Constructor was a favourite for overseas heavy-haulage duties. This example, coupled to a curious double-pivot six-axle trailer, was deliverd to Quarry Industries of New South Wales in 1964. Note the mechanical hand-signal device on the driver’s door!
