Federal ex-army tank carrier, Northern Territory, Australia

Federal ex-army tank carrier of the type that we used for road train work in the Northern Territory. We had two named "Dyna-mite" and Dyna will". This one went South for the logging industry. Is Australia the only country that carries water bags on the front of their trucks? They were 3 mph faster than the Diamond "T"s. Wow!!!

Ron regarding your question about the water bags. We also carried them in South Africa. Always had some cool water to drink. With modern trucks fitted with aircons and fridges you dont see them anymore. My last one got nicked. Regards Kenn.

Hi Ron, Great shot of the the Federal 604 6x4. Did you ever come across any ex RAAF Federal 6x6's about in your travels after the war? I know there were at least 2 operating around Pell Airbase (North of Adelaide River) and Darwin, which probably remained in the NT after the war? Are you still living in the US? All the Best, Kind Regards, Trevor Shelton
